BOTH TORIES AND REFORM BLAMED FOR PROBLEMS WITH ROADS

- By LOUIS CORBETT

Pothole protest at County Hall due to 'diabolical' state of highways

A DOZEN pothole protesters gathered outside County Hall as a part of their campaign to draw attention to the "diabolical" state of the roads in Nottinghamshire.

The protesters gathered outside the Nottinghamshire County Council building to vent their frustrations at the county council after months of guerrilla tactics to draw attention to their "forgotten borough".

The residents of the Gedling Borough Pothole group have made mugs and banners and sent a mass email to the head of highways on a Sunday afternoon to draw attention to the growing issue in Gedling.

The protesters were met by a host of county councillors upon arrival, which led to a clash between opposition leader Sam Smith and the Council leader, Mick Barton.

The exchange led the council leader to claim that Councillor Sam Smith was making this "political" and that he was actually trying to have a conversation with the concerned residents.
