Post community centre campaign up for an award

IT HIGHLIGHTS PLIGHT OF VITAL LOCAL SERVICES

THE Post's campaign to protect the city's community centres has been shortlisted for a national award.

The Protect Nottingham Community Centres campaign was launched in January by this paper to highlight the plight of the vital centres and to try to force a change in Nottingham City Council's approach.

The council ended up proposing completely different plans to the people who run the centres.

But our campaign continues as negotiations between the parties reach a critical phase.

The campaign has now been shortlisted for the News Media Association's (NMA) Making a Difference Award.

The award runs on the annual Journalism Matters week, organised by the NMA in a bid to highlight the benefits journalism creates for society.
