PM praises role of regional media on tackling big issues

'NO ONE MORE COMMITTED TO SHINING THE TORCH'
THE Prime Minister has praised the commitment of local media for "shining the torch" on issues in a Downing Street reception attended by journalists from the Nottingham Post and its sister website Nottinghamshire Live.
The reception was held on Monday and attended by around 100 leaders, editors and journalists from a broad spectrum of local media outlets.
The Post, Nottinghamshire Live, Derbyshire Live and Leicestershire Live were among the outlets represented.
Sir Keir Starmer gave a short speech in which he acknowledged the huge pressures facing the local media sector, but also discussed the "good news story" about the reach of local media increasing.
The Prime Minister said: "Nobody knows your local areas and issues in the way that you do.
