PC sacked for snooping into suspect's records

HE PASSED ON INFORMATION TO ACQUAINTANCE OF ARRESTED MAN
A POLICE officer viewed the records of someone he knew who had been arrested before passing on the information to someone else.
Connor Napier was sacked by the force after admitting to accessing CCTV footage, body-worn video and other files without a policing purpose.
A misconduct hearing at Nottinghamshire Police headquarters in Sherwood Lodge, Arnold, yesterday, found the former constable had committed a serious breach of confidentiality which risked compromising a criminal investigation.
Mr Napier, who joined the force in 2020, admitted to gross misconduct and expressed his "unreserved apologies".
The PC used his force-issued laptop to unlawfully look through the records on July 27 after a person he knew, referred to as Person A, had been arrested.
