No time to dwell on Shrews defeat as Magpies move on quickly

THERE is little time for Notts County to lick their wounds following their midweek defeat as they get back on the horse to face Tranmere Rovers at Meadow Lane in League Two today (3pm).

- By SAM ALLEN

The Magpies saw their unbeaten run, which included six straight victories, come to a surprise end as they lost 1-0 away against struggling Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night.

Notts dominated possession with 74% of the ball but they struggled to create chances, generating only 0.64 xG on a frustrating evening.

On bouncing back, Magpies head coach Martin Paterson said: "There's a recognition that we lost, fair and square.

"There was a lot of emotion and pride regarding the run we'd been on before that and what we're trying to achieve for the football club.

"I don't mind those feelings because I want the team not to like losing. But the most important thing is how we react playing back at home, where we will need the supporters because this is the third game in a long week.
