New rules could mean a four-dog limit for walkies

PEOPLE could be fined for walking too many dogs at once in public under new rules for owners being considered in by borough councillors.

Rushcliffe Borough Council is expected to extend a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in a bid to tackle animal-related anti-social behaviour.

It is to act on an “increase in the frequency or seriousness” of dog-related incidents, such as dog-foul-ing and dogs off-lead in restricted areas, a report says. The order will be discussed at a meeting of the council's cabinet on Tuesday.

Under the new rules, dog owners must only walk a maximum of six dogs at any point of time - and this could be limited to four dogs in specific areas.
