New landlords promise a special Sunday lunch

Inside the refurbished pub A selection of food at the Boot and Shoe

A DUO who have taken over an idyllic country pub have a great track record - especially when it comes to an award-winning Sunday roast.

Dan Bellamy and Jason Castle are the new landlords of the Boot and Shoe in Flintham, a historic inn frequented by many of the Dambuster flight crews during the Second World War.

Around 16 miles from Nottingham and seven from Newark, it's the only pub in the village.

The business partners already run the highly rated White Horse in Lincoln, which reviewers describe as "amazing" and "wonderful".

Now they're turning their hand to a second venue, in the heart of rural Notts.

After a full refurbishment, the pub in Main Street recently reopened with a menu of seasonal, freshly cooked food, which - along with quality drinks - is the top priorities.

Dan, whose whole career has revolved around hospitality - he's previously run pubs, hotels and restaurants in London and Lincoln - said: "It has always been the aim to have other venues across the UK doing a similar standard of food, fresh produce, good quality drinks and entrepreneurial chefs.

"Then the Boot and Shoe came up."

For four days a week the menu revolves around small plates designed with flair by head chef Tyler, who previously spent six months working in the kitchen of Great British Menu star Tommy Banks.

Diners can pick from a lineup including ham hock, mushroom pate, Korean fried chicken and venison croquette.
