EX-COUNCILLOR'S QUESTION ON FLOOD RELIEF

- By LOUIS CORBETT

FLOODING on a village road has been ignored for years even though it's hitting business, say residents.

Villagers in Mansfield Road, Clipstone, say the road floods whenever it rains for more than 20 minutes.

Despite promises that work to remedy the issue would start in 2021, the flooding continues.

Shopkeeper Thuvaa Kuru said he loses business whenever it floods.

He said: "I lose out on about 40% of my passing trade easily. In the last couple of years, it's got worse - it comes right up to the door. When the cars come past, it spashes our entrance.

"I am losing out, and no one has done anything."

Alan Scott, 73, has lived on the road for six years and has repeatedly complained that floodwater is creeping closer to his house.

Alan showed the Post evidence that work was scheduled in 2021, but he has seen no change in the water that reaches his front doorstep.
