Missing bin collections 'infuriating' residents

Garden waste collections are causing headaches in Gedling

A COUNCIL has promised to make changes to bin collections after complaints over the last year.

Gedling borough councillor Sam Smith (Con), who represents Trent Valley, said residents were “infuriated” by missed garden waste collections, for which they paid a fee.

The service runs every year from the start of April to the end of March the following year - with no collections in January and February.

The cost for the 2025/26 service is £45 for one brown bin, and £23 each for any further bins.

Councillor Smith said he had received more complaints about the issue than he ever has in seven years on the council.

He said he received around five to six additional complaints every few weeks.

"I have no complaints with general waste, black waste or green waste - it is garden waste," he said at a council meeting on Monday.
