Man fined after pulling into bus lane due to a medical emergency

A DRIVER is outraged he's been fined after pulling into a bus lane because of a medical emergency.

Gareth Orrill, 43, started to feel "dizzy and nauseous" as he drove along Newcastle Avenue, Worksop.

He has been diagnosed with a heart condition called atrial fibrillation and has been on new medication for the past three weeks, meaning that sometimes he struggles with the side effects.

Gareth, of Tuxford, decided to pull into a nearby bus stop to gather himself before continuing on his journey.

He says he only stopped in the bus lane for "a matter of seconds" on May 17.

But he then received a letter stating that he had been fined for stopping in the lane.

Gareth appreciates the need for cameras to check the bus lane, as people would use it inappropriately if they were not there.

But he feels that the cases should be monitored on a case-by-case basis.
