HUSBAND-AND-WIFE TEAM ORDERED TO PAY OVER £170,000 IN FINES AND COSTS

A COUPLE have been ordered to pay more than £170,000 in fines and costs after their council found 14 defects in two properties that put tenants' safety at risk.

The landlords, Baminy Suresh, 40, and Suresh Thanabalsingham, 46, both from Cheapside, Worksop, were found guilty at Mansfield Magistrates' Court on January 23 of failing to comply with improvement notices on their properties.

In 2023, Bassetlaw District Council received numerous complaints about the poor living conditions at the addresses, sating that the defects were endangering the health and wellbeing of the people living there.
