Indie shop owners in stark warning

THE owner of one of Nottingham's most prominent independent businesses has issued a stark warning to shoppers for 2026.

Ash Hudson, who owns Hopkinson on Station Street, has asked customers to continue supporting the independent businesses at “the heart of the city” amid tough trading conditions. Mr Hudson and wife Louise helped to save the bohemian cafe, bar and antiques shop from liquidation in 2023. In the time since, they have expanded the building across three floors.

Vintage clothes, collectable Pokemon cards and handmade gifts are among the quirky items sold on different stalls at the huge emporium.

And Mr Hudson says the range at Hopkinson has “grown rapidly” in recent years to ensure there is “something for everyone.”
