How bins rethink affects your area

CHANGES to bin collections are on the way as part of a nationwide shakeup.

New bins and an expansion of the type of materials collected are among the changes for households across the city and county.

The key change that will affect all local authorities is a dedicated kerbside food waste collection.

Nottingham City Council is set to start delivering this service next year, having been trialling it since 2023.

Other Nottinghamshire authorities will be bringing in the food waste collections from 2027 after negotiating a deadline extension.

Measures introduced by the previous government aim to ensure that all homes in England recycle the same materials from the kerbside.

Designed to make recycling easier to understand, the Simpler Recycling programme will be introduced from March next year.
