Fish and chip prices travel back in time for Georgio's 50th anniversary

FISH and chip lovers turned out in droves to bag a freebie from their favourite takeaway.

A crowd gathered outside a Georgio's, a Sneinton chippie celebrating its 50th anniversary.

As it was the school holidays, first in line were a bunch of children, who said they'd queued for two hours. By 2pm the queue trailed past three other businesses to Barnston Road.

The first 50 customers received free fish and chips and the next 50 paid just 75p because 1975 was the year the chip shop was opened by George Konstandi, late father of current owner Mike. The rest of the day customers could bag a portion for £2.49.
