FINES FOR VEHICLE OWNERS WHO PARK ON OR NEAR ROUNDABOUTS

- By LOUIS CORBETT

First red route to tackle car meets near power station

THE county's first “red route” will be introduced to roads near Ratcliffe-on-Soar after years of dangerous car meets in the area.

Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottinghamshire Police and Uniper Energy - the power station operator - have worked together to combat obstructive parking on and around roundabouts off the A453, outside the power station.

It will mean that all stopping, waiting and loading will be strictly prohibited and monitored by cameras, the enforcement of which will be carried out by the police and penalty charge notices issued to vehicle owners.

Previously, Uniper told Nottinghamshire County Council that it would pay for the measures as it was so concerned about the dangerous nature of the car meets, which prompted it to pledge at least £65,000 for the red routes to be implemented.
