A NEW map has revealed where thousands of homes could be built in part of Nottinghamshire with one of the possible sites being a golf course.
boundary, past the Leapool roundabout and up to Bestwood St Albans.
The majority of the area to the east of Redhill roundabout, between Lime Lane and Calverton Road, has also been marked as a possible development location.
A consultation on a series of potential sites across Gedling borough will start on Monday, July 21, and run until Sunday, September 1, and the council has said no decisions have been made yet on where and how many houses will be built.
However, one concerned resident has already raised the alarm over what the council's new plan could eventually mean for the semi-rural community.
"At the moment, you can go from Redhill, which is a built-up area, to a huge expanse of green land in just a few minutes," said Derek Chambers, who has lived in Redhill for three decades and is well-known locally from his former career as a singing taxi driver.
Mr Chambers, who said it had been long been rumoured that the land to the west of the Leapool roundabout could be transformed into a new estate, added: "For many, many years we protected the greenbelt.
The council is taking the first step in forming its new Local Plan, a planning document that outlines the future development of the borough.
