Extra A&E strain due to medically fit patients not being sent home

THE QUEEN'S Medical Centre's A&E department is under strain due to an extra 65 “medically fit" patients not being sent home compared to this time last year.
Nottingham University Hospitals Trust (NUH) executives met on Thursday in a board meeting where the trust's operational performance was discussed. NUH runs Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital.
The board heard how the issue of poorer patient “flow” was “significantly” affecting the emergency department's performance - a problem hospital trusts across the country are facing.
