Drunken burglary that has torn a family apart

A DRUNKEN burglar urinated in a drain outside a family's home before using a rock to force his way inside.

Nottingham Crown Court heard Jake Barker stole £1,000 of items from the Clifton address to sell for more booze.

The young householders were out having dinner and returned to find their home ransacked.

Since the burglary took place last month, the female victim has moved in with her mother because she does not feel safe in her home.

Jailing the 31-year-old defendant for two years and five months, Judge Stuart Rafferty KC said: "You had been released from custody for just a matter of weeks and were still under supervision when you committed what is the meanest criminal offence against a total stranger.
