Dedicated worker to help asylum seekers settle into homes in Rushcliffe

ASYLUM seekers in Rushcliffe will get help settling into their homes in the area as part of a new council project.

A "Dispersal Accommodation Outreach Worker" started in their new role on December 1 as part of the 12-month scheme, which is a partnership between Rushcliffe Borough Council and the Nottingham Refugee Forum charity.

The part-time role pays £15,000 per year and aims to provide “enhanced support” to asylum seekers in the borough, to “further support the suitability of leases by Serco” and also to “reduce the risk of localised issues”.

The staff member will work with the asylum seekers directly to support them in accessing housing, healthcare, legal and English-language learning services, as well as with a move-on plan “tailored” to their needs.
