Chip shop gets zero rating after rat droppings found

A CHIPPY has been given a zero food hygiene rating after rat droppings were discovered in a storage room.

Inspectors also found a lack of soap and poor cleaning practices at Bridgford Fish Bar, West Bridgford, earlier this summer.

A spokesperson for the business said the rating, the lowest possible, was "not a reflection of our standards", having only taken over the chippy around two months ago.

A member of Rushcliffe Borough Council's environmental health team said they saw an employee serving food without wearing any protective over-clothing during the inspection on July 3.

They also pointed out there was no soap at the sinks, which were not in regular use.
