THE mother of a student killed in the Nottingham attacks has criticised a planned new policy under which offenders will be restricted to certain areas after release.

Under the measures, criminals will be pinned down to restricted zones, with tough monitoring.

The aim is to protect victims from the most serious offenders, who could face more time behind bars if they breach the restrictions.

The "restriction zones" will accompany existing "exclusion zones", which stop offenders entering locations where their victims live.

The new zones will limit the movement of offenders by confining them to an agreed area, allowing victims to travel anywhere else without the fear of bumping into them.
