Attacker is cleared of murder bid

A NOTTINGHAM man who attacked a woman with a hammer on a driveway near her Cinderhill home has been cleared of attempted murder.

Following a week-long trial at Nottingham Crown Court, a jury took four hours and 20 minutes to clear Julian Mead of trying to kill Natalie Packer.
However, they found him guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and burglary by a majority of 11 to one.
