Allegra's run at Wimbledon over after loss

NOTTINGHAM-BASED tennis starlet Allegra Korpanec Davies’ run at Wimbledon was brought to an end in the first round after defeat to Jana Kovačková.

An alumnus of the Project Ten Tennis Academy in Nottingham, Korpanec Davies was defeated by Kovačková in straight sets to end her time in the girls' single draw in the opening round for the second time in as many years. Having to contend with the elements as well as Kovačková at a windswept SW19, the British wild card was unable to showcase her best tennis, double faulting six times and winning only three of her 11 net points en route to a 6-1 6-3 defeat.
