All hail to the county's kings of giant vegetables

NOTTS GROWERS GRAB NEW WORLD RECORDS

GARDENERS have smashed six giant vegetable world records at the Malvern Autumn Show - including a colossal 7.8m (25ft) radish and a towering 8m (26ft) runner bean plant.

More than 60,000 people visited the Three Counties Showground at the weekend to witness the mammoth produce on show.

Among the champions was seasoned Nottingham grower Peter Glazebrook, 81, who won first place for the world's tallest runner bean plant and the longest aubergine. His runner bean plant reached a remarkable 8m (26ft) in height and his aubergine tipped the scales at 4.3kg and measured 49cm in length.
