Agony for Sophie as medal is out of reach

EMOTIONAL Sophie Hahn fought back tears after missing out on a World Championship medal in New Delhi.

The 28-year-old Nottingham para sprint star finished fifth in her T38 100m final after a hugely turbulent year both on and off the track.

Hahn, a two-time Paralympic champion, could only finish sixth at the Paris Games last summer and changed coaches this season ina bid to go “back to basics”.

She came into the global showpiece here in the Indian capital in more confident spirits but was unable to propel herself back onto the podium as Colombian Angie Nicoll Mejia Morales grabbed gold.
