Action over 'dust and smells' from construction site

ACTION has been taken after residents complained over work on a new housing estate they claim causes bad smells and dust.

Nerighbours to land where Gleeson Homes is building 240 homes off Braemar Avenue, Eastwood, say the construction has made their lives “really difficult”.

The Government's Planning Inspectorate approved the controversial plans last year, despite 1,000 objections from residents who feared it would disturb harmful substances dumped nearby at the unlicensed former landfill site known as Matkin’s Tip.

The development was initially unanimously refused permission by Broxtowe Borough Council's planning committee in December 2022.

Sarah Bainbridge, 39, of the more-than-600-strong Commons Residents Action Group, said the work had caused months of disruption.
