Carney’s victory may offer a chance to recalibrate the bilateral relationship, which had reached a low under Trudeau, especially after his remarks following the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in 2023 and his platforming of pro-Khalistani voices, actions New Delhi viewed as interference in India’s internal affairs.
