Bhilai (PRO, 07-04-25): In an extraordinary demonstration of medical brilliance, compassionate care, and institutional excellence, the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital and Research Centre of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has once again reaffirmed its stature as a beacon of hope and healing. The inspiring recovery journey of Smt. Ankita Kumari (Name Changed), an 80% burn survivor, stands as a living testimony to what can be achieved when cutting-edge clinical expertise meets an unwavering human spirit.

On 19th February 2025, Smt. Ankita Kumari was admitted in a critical state to the Burn Unit of the JLN Hospital & RC. She had sustained severe burn injuries, was in septic shock, and her blood pressure and oxygen saturation were dangerously low. The emergency medical team, loaded with biomarkers, initiating critical interventions the moment she arrived. Within days, her vital parameters stabilized, an early sign that her life-threatening condition was being effectively countered.
Her clinical condition was extremely grave; nearly 80% of her body was burned, and skin grafting had to be initiated using 10% of her body’s surface. The first major surgical intervention involved removing necrotic skin from her left arm and grafting new skin under high-risk consent. For five harrowing days, her life hung in the balance. Yet, the burn care team, through a combination of infection control, high-protein nutritional support, and psychological encouragement, managed not just to stabilize her but to create a conducive environment for grafting success and gradual wound healing.
