Why it's never too early to draft a will, even with limited assets

At present, neither my wife nor I own any substantial assets, though we have nominees listed for some of our bank and demat accounts, as well as for our public provident fund and similar investments.
I am a married man, 35 years old, with two young children. Recently, we have been advised by financial professionals to create a will, but we are not sure if we are at the right stage in life to draft one. Considering that we're still young and have limited assets, what is the appropriate age or stage in life to start making a will?
