Improve rural income as a top priority, FM tells NABARD

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday told senior officials of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to work toward ensuring efficiency and outcomes at the ground level, with improvements in rural income as a top priority, the finance ministry said in a social media post

The suggestion to NABARD came at a review meeting in which senior officials of the bank and the department of financial services took part.
The minister asked NABARD to facilitate the aggregation of organic producers by Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), with a focus on northeastern states.
