Years after disinvestment bid, Jitendra Singh lauds CEL’s role in Op Sindoor

NEW DELHI: A public sector unit that the government almost sold off three years ago was praised on Friday by Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh for the turnaround in its fortunes and the contribution it made for the success of Operation Sindoor.

‘The sale of Central Electronics Limited, a mini-ratna enterprise under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, was announced in 2021 to Nandal Finance and Leasing Private Limited for Rs 210 crore. The decision was terminated in September 2022.

“CEL was almost disin-vested... somehow we managed to put that decision on hold. I must compliment him, it has come up very beautifully and they have become profit making within two years,” Singh said addressing the 84th
