Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took a firm stance against crimes targeting women, labelling such acts as "unpardonable sins" and demanding that perpetrators face severe consequences.

His remarks come in the wake of recent incidents that have shocked the nation, including the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital and the sexual abuse of two four-year-old girls in Badlapur.

Addressing the 'Lakhpati Didi Sammelan' in Jalgaon, North Maharashtra, Modi emphasised the paramount importance of women's safety.

"The safety of mothers, sisters, and daughters is the country's priority. I have raised this issue repeatedly from the Red Fort," he stated, acknowledging the pain and anger felt by women across the nation.

Modi said that he would tell every political party and state government that crime against women is an unpardonable sin.

Whoever is guilty should not be spared, he added.
