PM Modi reviews governance reforms as Cabinet reshuffle speculation grows

Amid speculation over a possible reshuffle of the Union Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday interacted with secretaries of all Union ministries to review governance reforms, improve inter-ministerial coordination and discuss measures to strengthen public service delivery.

The meeting was held at the newly built Prime Minister's Office complex, Seva Teerth, in New Delhi. According to officials, discussions centred on two themes: deregulation and other reforms to improve ease of doing business and ease of living, and promoting Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance).

During the interaction, secretaries outlined the major initiatives undertaken by their respective ministries in line with these priorities. They also highlighted efforts to translate the Prime Minister's vision into actionable outcomes, discussed sector-specific challenges and presented future strategies to improve governance and service delivery. Sources said the presentations also covered the functioning of ministries, progress on reform measures and people-centric initiatives.

Modi stressed the need for a "whole-of-government" approach and called on ministries to break departmental silos to improve coordination, decision-making and implementation. He also urged wider use of the PM Gati Shakti platform for integrated planning, inter-departmental coordination and informed decision-making. The Prime Minister asked secretaries to focus on the tangible impact of government schemes on people's lives.
