Warns wholesalers, traders against hoarding of essential food items
NEW DELHI: The Centre on Friday reassured citizens that India has sufficient food supplies to meet domestic requirements, even as it issued a strong warning to traders and wholesalers against stockpiling essential commodities amid growing tensions along the border with Pakistan.
Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, in a statement posted on social media, cautioned the public against reacting to unverified messages. "Don't believe in propaganda messages regarding food stocks in the country. We have ample food stocks, far exceeding required norms. DON'T PAY HEED TO SUCH MESSAGES," he posted.
