Taking a bold leap toward future-ready urbanization, the Madhya Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, has unveiled a transformative twin-metropolis vision powered by legal support, metro mobility, and industrial dynamism—aiming to reshape the state's skyline with smart infrastructure, and catalyze growth along with massive job creation
-
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, in a major push towards shaping the contours of a future-ready Madhya Pradesh, has laid out an impressive vision to establish two metropolitan regions aimed at accelerating urban growth. At a cabinet meeting held on May 20, 2025, at Rajwada in Indore, the state government approved the Metropolitan Region Planning and Development Act, 2025—a forward-looking legislation that could pave the way for setting up Metropolitan Planning Committees and Metropolitan Region Development Authorities (MRDAs) to ensure well-coordinated and sustainable urban development.
The two regions selected for this urban transformation are: Indore-Ujjain-Dewas-Dhar in western Madhya Pradesh, and Bhopal-Sehore-Raisen-Vidisha-Biaora (Rajgarh) in the central part of the state. These regions, it must be noted, are already recognized as major centers for trade, industry, and governance, and are now expected to act as twin engines of growth. The targeted investments, modern infrastructure, and efficient governance, as envisaged in the project, will bring about rapid and inclusive economic progress.
The vision also aligns with the state's long-term development roadmap—Chief Pradesh @2047. It focuses on providing a boost to crucial sectors including education, healthcare, and manufacturing, while also creating large-scale employment opportunities.
