Interim trade deal with US likely by July 8 India for full exemption from 26% additional tariff

India and the US are expected to finalise an interim trade agreement before July 8, with New Delhi pushing for a full exemption from the 26 per cent reciprocal tariff imposed by Washington, a government official said.

The US had announced the additional duty on April 2 but suspended it for 90 days, effective until July 9. Indian goods currently face only the 10 per cent baseline tariff.
