UST rolls out red carpet for UAAP Season 88 grand opening

With a spectacular display of lights, music, and the Thomasian brand of entertainment in store, the University of Santo Tomas transforms its vast and historical Manila campus into an extravagant stage meant to welcome thousands of participants for the upcoming UAAP Season 88 on September 19, 2025.

Set at 6 p.m., the host school, UST, opens its doors for a celebration rooted in tradition but elevated by innovation.

Inspired by the current Jubilee Year of Hope, the festivities take on a deeper meaning as these unite faith, the Thomasian culture, and artistic and athletic excellence.

With the theme “Strength in Motion, Hope in Action”, the grand ceremonies will feature dynamic and impassioned performances, and various ceremonial features from Thomasian culture.

True to UST’s Catholic identity, a Eucharistic Celebration led by the Prior Provincial of the Dominican Province of the Philippines, Rev. Fr. Filemon I. Dela Cruz, O.P., SThL, will start the opening festivities at 2 p.m. at the Quadricentennial Pavilion.
