Sta. Ana Hospital opens dedicated ward for leptospirosis patients as death toll rises

The Manila Health Department has activated a special ward at Sta. Ana Hospital, which is dedicated solely for leptospirosis cases, amid growing concern over the rising number of fatalities and severe infections across the city.

Manila Health Department chief Dr. Grace Padilla announced the move on Monday, Aug. 11, citing alarming data: 18 deaths have already been recorded due to leptospirosis, while numerous others remain hospitalized, many in serious condition, with some patients already undergoing dialysis.
