The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said there is no tsunami threat to the country following a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck off the coast of Russia’s Kuril Islands on Sunday, Aug. 3.

Based on preliminary data, the offshore quake occurred at a depth of 41 kilometers and was recorded at 1:38 p.m. (Philippine time).
