Dear Manila Bulletin readers and friends of Singapore, Today, Singapore celebrates 60 years of independence and nationhood.
It is a milestone that fills every Singaporean with pride, and a moment to reflect on how far we have come, and to look ahead with purpose and determination. Singapore is in many ways an improbable nation, yet we have survived and thrived by forging strong partnerships and staying open and connected to the world.
As we celebrate National Day, it is also an occasion to honour the enduring friendships that have shaped our journey. Few partnerships have been as trusted and steadfast as the one we share with the Philippines.
As Singapore’s Ambassador to the Philippines, it has been a profound honour to witness firsthand the strength, depth, and warmth of our bilateral ties. This relationship has grown steadily over the decades, underpinned by substantive cooperation across a wide range of sectors, from trade and investment, defence and security, to labour, education, healthcare, and digitalisation. Our peoples are deeply connected, and these personal bonds continue to form the bedrock of our ties.
