Gov't steps up disaster readiness, stockpiles relief goods—Marcos

President Marcos assured the public that the government has intensified its disaster preparedness efforts and pre-positioned relief packs and “go bags” nationwide in anticipation of future calamities.

In his latest vlog titled “Handa sa Sakuna,” the President said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local government units (LGUs) have stocked up food and essential supplies in warehouses across the country to ensure a quick response after earthquakes and other natural disasters.

“Sa amin naman sa pamahalaan, patuloy din ang maagap na paghahanda (As for us in government, our proactive preparations continue),” he said.

He added that government agencies have also strengthened their communication and information campaigns to raise public awareness and community readiness.

Despite this, Marcos encouraged families to have evacuation plans and to prepare emergency kits or "go bags," stressing that disaster readiness should start within households.
