Family affair as manager's son nets the winning goal

BOSS Micky Mellon praised his son Michael after his debut goal earned Oldham their first win back in the EFL.

The Latics had only lost twice in the opening six League Two games but remained winless until Saturday's 1-0 success at Cambridge.

Michael Mellon, on loan from Burnley, netted the winner in the first half.

“He'll score goals, he's always been a goal scorer,” said Mellon senior afterwards.

“He's done what he's supposed to do today, came in and helped the team to get a really important victory, so I'm really proud of him.
