City were evidently looking to bolster their side with the acquisition of a new goalkeeper this summer, given Ederson's uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium.

The club initially snapped up James Trafford from Burnley in a £27million move, after the youngster enjoyed an incredible season in the Championship through 2024/25. It marked the 23-year-old's second stint with the Premier League side, who was only sold to the Clarets by City in 2023.
