Joe home and dry in rain as Macc rise to fourth

JOE Moores hit a fine half century as Macclesfield beat both the weather and Davenham at the weekend to climb to fourth spot in Cheshire County Cricket League Division 1.

Davenham batted first after Macc skipper Jack Massey won the toss and opted to field first on a day where rain interruptions were guaranteed.

After an inevitable rain delay, the match started with play reduced to 40 overs per side. Macc made a double breakthrough in the fourth over as Brad Porter bowled both Matt Jamieson and Jimmy O'Sullivan to make the score 11-2.

After a brief recovery, Davenham were rocked by another pair of quick wickets, this time both falling to Miles Bradshaw thanks to catches by Finn Nash and keeper Jimmy Longhorn, leaving the home side in a little trouble at 41-4.
