MACCLESFIELD Seconds travelled to Bowdon and bowled first after skipper Adam Longshaw won the toss.

- JON CURWEN

Macc had an early success as Bowdon’s Bram, just after hitting a boundary, attempted another big shot off Ben Farmer but he mistimed it high in the air to be caught by Jimi Tibbits.

Bowdon attempted to regroup and took the score to 24-1 when Will Jennings took his first wicket as Parrot edged behind to keeper George Montaldo. Macc applied pressure and kept the scoring rate down, Bowdon keeping wickets intact but only reaching 48-2 after 20 overs.

A double bowling change opened the game up. Leo Burns took two wickets in two balls as Tully was caught in the gully by Otis Palmes and then Grosfils was bowled for a golden duck. In the next over Austin Ventre struck as Hertz dragged a full ball onto his own stumps and Bowdon were in serious trouble at 49-5.

McDougall and Robinson performed a decent rescue job for their team, adding vital runs to halt Macc’s previously rapid progress.
