Boss Ten Hag calls for time to build a great side at United
MEN on Sunday
|April 28, 2024
ERIK ten Hag has asked United fans to be patient after they turned to boos during the 1-1 draw with Burnley at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag's decision to replace Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund with Scott McTominay and Amad midway through the second half, with the game still goalless, was met with a significant show of dissent from Old Trafford.
Decisions to take Hojlund off against Brighton and Manchester City earlier in the season were also met with boos. When Antony struck 11 minutes from time it looked like it would spare United's blushes, but an error from Andre Onana led to a late penalty, converted by Zeki Amdouni, and the final whistle was also met with boos from the home supporters.
Ten Hag defended his double change and said the young players in his squad needed protecting from the fatigue that has built up, while also asking for patience as he builds his squad at United.
