Community Grocery has opened its doors in Loughborough for the very first time...

AS electricity, water and council tax bills go up, households are bracing themselves for tough times ahead that will make it harder for millions to put food on the table.

Desperate to help make a difference by giving families access to the affordable food they need, a new Community Grocery opened in Loughborough on Wednesday last week.

Based in Spectrum Centre (behind The Rosebery Centre), the Community Grocery provides affordable food for members as well as giving access to support courses in the future too.

A spokesperson said: “Step inside the store and you'll find the same range of products you'd expect to see in your local supermarkets, including fresh fruit and vegetables, tinned goods, bakery items, frozen food, sanitary products and household items.

“Signing up at the grocery is easy and gives members, who would otherwise find it hard to put food on the table, somewhere where they can do a food shop from just £5 per visit - saving on average £20 each shop.”
