The boys, friends for years, were on their way home after an event in Temecula.
ATHLETES Mina Sabet, left, and Jacob Labib played with the SoCal Reds in the Elite Academy League.
Relatives and youth soccer groups across Southern California have been left reeling after a fiery car accident killed two teenage boys, a man and a woman.
The deadly collision, which authorities suspect was the result of an illegal race, occurred Aug. 23 on Interstate 15 in Temecula.
According to authorities, a BMW was traveling north at a high rate of speed when it suddenly veered left and leaped over the median. The BMW collided with an oncoming Nissan Sentra, and both vehicles burst into flames.
BMW passengers Jacob Labib, 15; Mina Sabet, 14; and Mina's sister Yostena Sabet, 22, all suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to relatives and the Riverside County coroner's office.
Nicholas Callans, the 35-year-old driver of the Nissan, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Girgis Alber, 23, the driver of the BMW and Yostena Sabet's fiance, was pulled from the vehicle and taken to the Inland Valley Hospital in critical condition, the California Highway Patrol said.
