Sixsational for U-18s

LIVERPOOL Under-18s, who are yet to appoint a new head coach following the departure of long-serving boss Marc Bridge-Wilkinson (pictured) at the end of last season, opened their preseason campaign by thrashing Connah's Quay Nomads on Saturday.

The young Reds, who were led by assistant manager Anthony Ryan, ran out 6-1 winners at the Academy in Kirkby.

Both sides paid tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, ahead of kickoff as they observed a minute's silence, while the players also wore black armbands in memory of the pair during the game.

Liverpool took an early lead through Joe Bradshaw, as the 17-year-old continued his impressive scoring form from last season with a close-range finish.
