LIVERPOOL began the new Premier League season with a win over Bournemouth at an emotional Anfield.

Arne Slot's side will now face an early test of their title defence when they travel to Newcastle United a week tomorrow. And here we look ahead to the changes Slot could make.

Gomez to rescue

There was both good and bad injury news for Slot in the win. The main positive came with the return as substitute of Joe Gomez. Gomez can offer much-needed cover at centre-back, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate the only other two senior options. That will change next week with new 18-year-old signing Giovanni Leoni eligible after arriving from Parma, while Liverpool are still hopeful of thrashing out a deal for Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi.
